Roll-on-Plate testing

Roll-On-Plate testing

The roll-on-plate test is used to investigate adhesive wear at high temperatures. For this purpose, a plate is conductively heated up to 1200°C, onto which a rotating roller with a defined load is pressed, Figure 1. The coefficient of friction can be measured and recorded online.

Depending on customer requirements, various surface treatment conditions, loads, temperatures and intermediate media can be tested. The evaluation includes the determination of the gravimetric material removal and the protocol of the friction coefficient curve over the test period.
