Vibration friction wear test

Vibration friction wear test

In oscillatory friction wear, solid-to-solid contact occurs during oscillating transverse motion. The ISAF test stand allows for testing under loads of up to 50 N at a frequency between 5 and 30 Hz and an amplitude between 0.5 and 5 mm. The frequency can be set to a fixed value or varied continuously between two values in a cyclic manner. The stress and friction forces can be recorded in real time. In addition to pure, unlubricated solid-on-solid friction, tests can also be conducted with additional abrasive material, moisture, or a fluid interlayer, and the system can be cooled with compressed air or heated with hot air.

The shape of the test specimen can be chosen freely within broad limits; in addition to standard geometries (pins, plates, spheres, rollers, etc.), simple components such as hoses, etc., are also possible.
